Today students had a math test on our unit on Two More and Two Less.  They had to show two more and two less than a given dice, dominoe, playing card and power of ten card.  Ask your child how they think they did! 

Today we made Chocolate Chip Cookies!

Then we did some "How to" writing to tell how we made them.

We used the following words to begin each part:  "First, Then, Next, Finally".

Here is the Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe if you want to make some at home:

2 1/4 cups flour                                         1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt                                      1/2 cup boiling water

2 cups rolled oats                                     1 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup margarine                                        1 cup chocolate chips

1 cup brown sugar

Cream margarine and brown sugar together.  Dissolve soda in 1/2 cup of boiling water.  Add water and vanilla to butter and sugar mixture.  Mix well.  Stir flour, oats, salt and chocolate chips together in a separate bowl.  Put dry ingredients into butter and sugar mixture.  Drop by spoonfuls on the cookie sheets.  Bake for 12 - 15 minutes at 350 degrees.

We completed our thirteenth spelling test today which continued to include a total of eight words -- six words from this week's list plus two "mystery" words from previous spelling lists.  Our spelling books and a new word list for next week's spelling homework will come home tomorrow.

Our Senses Unit Test will be on Wednesday March 23!

Yesterday we wrote another story together to help us learn to use the following words to organize our thoughts:  First, Then, After, Next, Finally

Parents - Please have your son / daughter read what we have written below:

How  We  Made  Popcorn

First  we  put  popcorn  kernels  in  the  popcorn  popper.

Then  we  plugged  it  in  and  turned  it  on.

After  the  popcorn  popped  we  poured  melted  butter  and  salt  onto  the  popcorn.

Next  we  mixed  it  up  and  put  the  popcorn  in  cups.

Finally  we  ate  it!
