We completed our twenty-first spelling test today which continued to include a total of eight words -- six words from this week's list plus two "mystery" words from previous spelling lists.  Our spelling books and a new word list for next week's spelling homework will come home tomorrow.

Building Unit

Please bring in egg cartons, boxes, paper towel rolls, etc. for our building unit.

We will be using these materials on Friday June 3, 2011.

Teacher's Pet was here today!
Kristy came with her stuffed monkey to meet us!
Each student got to choose a pet (either a giraffe, zebra, lion, rhinoceros or elephant)
to color, cut out and put together.
Then they made a zoo home for their pet.
Together the class created a zoo full of animals!
We had four parent volunteers who came to help.  
Thank you to those mothers for their assistance!

Friday is Crazy Hat Day!

You can wear a crazy hat but only if you bring 50 cents 

as a fund raiser for relief in Japan.

Monday May 30 is a Professional Development Day.
There is no school for students on this day.

Social Studies

Today we will talked about how our families looked when the students were born 

and how they look today.

Parents - Please ask your son / daughter what they wrote.

Math

Today we had our math test on problem solving 

and adding and subtracting numbers to 20.

Parents - Please ask your son / daughter how they did.

Reminder:  Don't forget to practice your Home Reading tonight and return your book tomorrow so that you can have a new Home Reading book for the weekend!

We labelled a picture of a Mallard Duck today.

We also cut and paste 8 pictures to show the life cycle.

Our ducklings are getting very big!

They will be with us for four more days and then they will be going home on Thursday.

We completed our "Duck Webs" today.

We labelled the title page for our duck research booklet.

We listed the topics on the "Table of Contents" page.

Tomorrow we will write about Food in these booklets.
