Reminder:  There is no school for students on Monday February 28, 2011.  

Spelling homework is due on Tuesday March 1, 2011.

Today we had a lot of fun exploring using our senses!  First we played a Sound Guess game where they had to use their sense of hearing to figure out what was making the sounds they listened to on the SMART Board.  Second we passed around Smelling Cups where the students had to use their sense of smell to figure out what was in each cup.  Next we moved on to our sense of touch and students had to use their hands to explore what was in our Feeling Bags.  Last, we used our sense of tasteand did a Taste Test to identify foods that were salty, sweet, sour and bitter.  Please review these activities with your son or daughter and see if they know which of the 5 senses we didn't have an activity for!

(*  The answer is our sense of sight !)

Hello! 

The students went to the library today instead of going tomorrow. If they forgot to bring their book, they can bring it in tomorrow and I will send them down to the library to get a new book. 

Enjoy reading your child's new book with them! 

Please ask your child to talk with you about our sense of touch. Today we talked about things that feel hot, cold, soft, hard, bumpy, smooth, slimy, rough, flat, sharp. I am sure that they can tell you many more! 

**REMINDER** This Friday we will be exploring our sense of taste. The students will be tasting a variety of foods. Please don't forget to send back the form which indicates if your child has any allergies or is not allowed to eat any specific food products. Please be aware that if this form is not returned by Friday, your child will not be allowed to participate in these activities.

This is our last day of school for this week.  

Teacher's Convention is tomorrow and Friday and Family Day is on Monday.  

We will see you back at school on Tuesday February 22, 2011!

Because we will be away from school for the next 5 days, you will find an extra homework assignment in your child's Friday Folder.  Please complete this homework and return it to school in your child's folder on Tuesday, February 22.
